Artemis
(rescued March 2019) Artemis was rescued with her brother, Odin. They were part of an unwanted litter of pups on a nearby farm and the dogs were being given away. We knew that we needed to have a couple of livestock guardian dogs to help keep everyone safe at Cloven Heart. Artemis is a very spunky and happy girl. She loves to play with her brother and she is very adventurous. She is very protective and always alerts everyone if something doesn't seem right. Leaves blowing and sirens in the distance are especially sketchy. One of her favorite things is to play with her brother. She is also a big fan of Willow the donkey. Thank you sponsors: Laura

Odin
(rescued March 2019) Odin was rescued with his sister, Artemis. They were both part of an unwanted litter of pups that were being given away. Odin is very serious. He loves taking naps on top of the piggy houses and in mud. He seems to have sad eyes all the time, but that is his resting face. Odin loves to be near all the animals. We often call him the nanny because he loves sitting near baby pigs and goats to watch over them. The one thing that makes Odin smile is being with his sister. They will run and play together every day, several times a day. Luckily, they will always have each other at Cloven Heart. Thank you sponsors: Laura

Boba
(rescued 2021) Boba appeared in the middle of the nigh at the sanctuary with another larger dog. We tried to secure them but they ran away and we couldn't find them. The very next morning, they were back in the front yard. Luckily, they were very hungry and we were able to secure them both. Boba was chipped and the owners hung up on us. He was dumped and not in a good way. Boba had several injuries to his body from being dropped out of the vehicle. He was a very scared, confused, and tired dog when we found him. Boba is an older gentleman, 6 years now. Boba has since grown very confident and happy at Cloven Heart. He feels very safe and loved. Thank you sponsors: Dawn

Chiffon
(rescued December 2021) Chiffon was found on a back country road that led to a boat dock. We passed her and tried to secure her but she ran away. We were unable to find owners, but was able to secure her after three days of trying and taking her food. One day, she agreed to get in the truck. She had been found eating garbage that was dumped nearby. She was very young, under one year. Dumping puppies is so heartbreaking. She has gotten bigger and is very much a happy girl and found a best friend at Cloven Heart that she gets to play with every day. |

Mila
(rescued May 2022) Mila is the mom dog. She was dumped across the street from the sanctuary. She was so easy going and fun from the minute we found her. She ran right across the street without even looking, straight into my arms. She was so happy to be found. She is a very loving and clingy dog. She just doesn't want to be alone and was very insecure in the beginning. She is very small. She has since grown more comfortable since living here. She had obvious behaviors of previous abuse and we feel she may have lived in a crate longterm giving birth to puppies. She didn't know how to play with toys but is now a real pro. |

Aster
(rescued May 2022) Aster was found with who we assume is her mom (Mila) because in watching her, she seemed to always want to be with Mila. Aster ran into thorn bushes and acted very aggressive. Once I was able to reach for her, she bit me hard. Luckily, I held on to her so she could be reunited with her mom. Aster was the most scared and very closed off personality. She only wanted to stay with her mom and didn't understand kindness or know how to play. It took a long time to win her over and for her to understand she was safe. She doesn't like when anyone reaches for her, but we are working with her to help her feel less scared. She has since learned how to play with toys and has become quite the kisser. She is the kind of dog that all the other dogs just automatically accept. She is very playful and very yappy. Although she loves all the dogs at Cloven Heart, her favorite dog to play with is Chiffon. |
